WRONG!!!!
A common misconception I hear is that all drivers in Florida must have $100,000.00, insurance coverage for auto accidents, however that is far from the truth. I have no idea where this came from but the only coverage required for vehicles (with four or more tires) is $10,000, in Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage and 10,000, in property damage liability. Property damage liability covers damages caused to another person’s vehicle when you are the at-fault party. PIP only covers up to 80% of medical bills and 60% of lost wages, regardless of who caused the accident. Being required to have $100k worth of insurance coverage for auto accidents is yet another one of those legal myths.
